Impact Doors

Impact doors protect the largest openings in your home: sliding glass doors, French doors and entry doors. Elevate Impact Windows supplies and installs large-missile impact-rated doors from PGT, ES Windows, Mr. Glass, ECO, EMC and GIG across South Florida, with permits and inspections handled by our licensed team (CGC1539231).

Door types we install

  • Sliding glass doors in two, three and four-panel configurations, including pocket and multi-slide systems for patios and lanais
  • French doors with impact glass, in-swing or out-swing
  • Entry doors in fiberglass and aluminum, with or without glass inserts
  • Bi-fold and folding glass walls for indoor-outdoor living
  • Garage side doors and utility doors rated for impact

Why doors matter in a hurricane

A sliding glass door is often the largest and most exposed opening in a South Florida home. If it fails, wind enters, pressurizes the house and can lift the roof. Impact doors use laminated glass, reinforced frames and interlocking panels anchored to the structure so the opening stays sealed. Every door we install is tested for large-missile impact and pressure cycling and carries Florida Product Approval, with most carrying a Miami-Dade NOA.

Frames, glass and hardware

Aluminum door frames are the standard for sliding and folding systems because of their strength over wide spans, and marine-grade finishes with stainless steel rollers and locks hold up near the water. Glass options include laminated, insulated laminated and Low-E, plus tints and obscure glass for privacy. Multi-point locks add security and help the door seal evenly against wind-driven rain.

Common impact sliding glass door sizes

Most South Florida sliders fall into a few standard rough openings. We measure every opening and order to size, so odd dimensions are not a problem.

  • 60 x 80 Two-panel door for smaller patio openings
  • 72 x 80 The most common two-panel patio door
  • 96 x 80 Wide two-panel or three-panel openings
  • 108 x 80 and 144 x 80 Three and four-panel lanai openings
  • Custom heights 96-inch and taller doors for newer homes with high ceilings

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we hear most. Don't see yours? Give us a call.

Do I need impact doors if I already have impact windows?

Yes. Insurance opening protection credits and the Florida Building Code treat every opening the same, and doors are usually the largest openings. Your home is only fully protected when doors are impact-rated too.

Can you replace a sliding glass door with French doors?

Yes. We can change the door style in the same opening, and we handle the structural and permit requirements for the change.

Are impact sliding doors hard to open?

No. Modern impact sliders use stainless steel rollers and balanced panels, so even large panels slide easily.

How long does a door installation take?

Most door replacements are completed in a day once the door arrives. Manufacturing lead time runs several weeks after the order is placed.

Which brands do you install?

PGT, ES Windows, Mr. Glass, ECO, EMC and GIG. All carry Florida Product Approval, and most carry a Miami-Dade NOA.

Do you handle permits?

Yes. We pull the permit, include the product approvals and schedule the final inspection.
