Hurricane Impact Windows

Hurricane impact windows protect your home from wind-borne debris, break-ins, heat and noise without shutters. Elevate Impact Windows supplies and installs large-missile impact-rated windows from PGT, ES Windows, Mr. Glass, ECO, EMC and GIG across South Florida, with permits and inspections handled by our licensed team (CGC1539231).

How impact windows work

An impact window pairs a reinforced frame with laminated glass: two panes of glass bonded to a tough interlayer. When debris strikes, the outer pane may crack, but the interlayer holds the glass in place so wind and rain stay out and the pressure inside your home stays stable. Products are tested by firing a 9-pound 2x4 at the glass at about 50 feet per second, then cycling the window through thousands of positive and negative pressure cycles. Windows that pass earn Florida Product Approval, and those tested to the Miami-Dade protocol earn a Notice of Acceptance (NOA).

Window styles we install

  • Single hung and double hung for traditional homes
  • Horizontal rollers (sliders) for wide openings and bedrooms
  • Casement and awning for ventilation and a clean modern look
  • Fixed and picture windows for views and large walls of glass
  • Architectural shapes including arches, circles and trapezoids
  • Bay and bow configurations

Frame and glass options

Aluminum frames are strong, slim and the standard choice for coastal and waterfront homes, especially with a marine-grade finish. Vinyl frames offer better insulation and never need painting, which makes them popular inland. For glass, laminated is the baseline impact glass, and insulated laminated adds a sealed air space for the best energy performance. Low-E coatings block heat and UV, and tints and obscure glass are available for privacy.

What impact windows do for your home

  • Storm protection on every opening without putting up shutters
  • Insurance savings through an opening protection credit, verified by a wind mitigation inspection
  • Lower cooling bills from Low-E glass that blocks solar heat
  • Noise reduction from laminated glass
  • Security , since laminated glass resists forced entry
  • UV protection for floors, furniture and art
  • Resale value and a cleaner look than shutter tracks

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we hear most. Don't see yours? Give us a call.

What is the difference between impact windows and hurricane windows?

They are the same thing. "Hurricane windows" and "impact windows" both refer to windows tested and approved to resist large-missile impact and wind pressure under the Florida Building Code.

Do impact windows replace hurricane shutters?

Yes. Once every opening has impact-rated windows and doors, shutters are no longer required on those openings, and most insurers extend the same opening protection credit.

How much do impact windows cost?

Cost depends on the number and size of openings, frame material, glass type and brand. We give a line-by-line quote at your free estimate, and our current offer takes 20% off the entire order with $0 down financing available.

Are impact windows energy efficient?

Yes. Impact windows with Low-E glass block a large share of solar heat, and insulated laminated glass adds a sealed air space that further reduces heat transfer.

Which brands do you install?

PGT, ES Windows, Mr. Glass, ECO, EMC and GIG. All carry Florida Product Approval, and most carry a Miami-Dade NOA.

Do you handle permits?

Yes. We pull the permit, include the product approvals and schedule the final inspection in every county we serve.
